These terms apply when you use this site or ask Samford Preceptor to help with a clinical placement. By using the site or our service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside your Samford program's own requirements.

The service
Samford Preceptor is an independent placement service for Samford University (Samford) nursing students. We search for preceptors and clinical sites in a student's own community that fit the student's Samford course, prepare preceptor and site information the student can put forward through Samford's process, and help find a replacement if a preceptor steps away.
Samford does not run this service, and the information on this site is not an official Samford statement. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Samford Preceptor, and "you" means the person using the site or the service.
Samford's role and final approval
Samford reviews every clinical rotation request, holds the affiliation agreements with clinical agencies and gives the final approval on every preceptor and site. Samford's catalog, program handbooks, courses and faculty set the rules for your program.
Where anything on this site or in our communications differs from Samford's current requirements, Samford's requirements apply.
No promise of placement, approval or dates
We work hard to find a suitable preceptor and site for you. We do not promise that one will be found, that one will be found by a particular date, that Samford will approve a site or preceptor we identify, or that you will start or finish any course or program on a particular timetable.
Preceptors and sites make their own decisions and may change or withdraw their availability at any time, including after Samford's approval.
Your responsibilities
You remain responsible for meeting Samford's requirements and deadlines, whether or not we are helping you. In particular, you are responsible for:
- submitting the documentation Samford asks for, including your clinical rotation request, health and background records and any agency documents, before clinical hours begin;
- holding an active, unencumbered RN license in every state where you are licensed, and a license valid where your clinical site is;
- completing background checks, drug screens, health clearance, immunizations and any site requirements before patient contact;
- completing clinical hours as your course requires, logging them accurately and following each site's rules;
- staying in contact with your course faculty, your program coordinator and Samford's Graduate Student Services;
- giving us accurate information and telling us promptly about any change.
Fees
Our fees are quoted individually, based on your program, course, location and timing, and your quote sets out what it covers. Charges made by a clinical site or other third party, and Samford's own tuition and fees, are separate from our fee. Samford's own requirements, such as background checks, drug testing and insurance, are separate from our fee.
Information on this site
Our guides summarize Samford's public catalog, program pages, plans of study, graduate handbook, Alabama rules and other official sources as of the date shown on each page. They are general information, not academic, legal or professional advice, and Samford's rules can change. Check your course, the NP Homeroom and your program coordinator before relying on any detail.
Communications
Sending us your details means you consent to our contacting you about your inquiry and placement by email, phone call or text message, as our privacy policy describes. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of text messages.
Acceptable use
Please use this site for its intended purpose. Do not submit false information, misuse the forms or chat, or copy the site's content for commercial use without permission.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Samford Preceptor is not liable for losses that arise from the decisions of Samford, a preceptor or a clinical site, from delays in approval or course progression, or from reliance on the general information on this site. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. Each revision carries a new date at the top of the page. Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact page or the chat.
