How to read the state guides
Samford's licensure disclosure for its NP tracks, dated September 3, 2025, lists 16 states it does not accept NP applicants from, and states that the programs meet licensure requirements elsewhere. Its graduate handbook adds that your RN license must be current and unencumbered in your state of practice and in every state where you do clinical rotations, and that a rotation request can be denied based on a state's rules.

Why are some states missing?
Samford does not accept NP applicants who live in, or only hold a license in, 16 states, including California, New York and Pennsylvania. This site covers the states where Samford accepts NP applicants; Alabama has its own region guides.
What if I move after I enroll?
Samford's graduate handbook says students relocating to another state must notify their program coordinator or director and make sure the rules for clinical and distance education there are met. Talk to Samford before you move.
Do I need a license in every state where I do clinicals?
Yes. Samford's handbook requires a current, unencumbered RN license in your state of practice and in the state of every clinical rotation. A multistate compact license can cover several states.
Does Samford's program meet licensure rules in my state?
In every state where Samford accepts NP applicants, its 2025 disclosure says the programs meet licensure requirements. Check your state's board for any change before you apply.
